Acid, 5-methyl-, 1,1-dimethyl ester is an organic compound with the chemical formula of C17H20N2O2. It is a white crystalline solid with low solubility.
Its main use is as a protecting group in organic synthesis. It can be used as an acyl protecting reagent to protect the potential affinity point on the nitrogen atom during the synthesis of active compounds. The Boc protecting group can be introduced by reacting the azo acid, 5-methyl-, 1,1-dimethylethyl ester with the substrate, thereby protecting the active group in the substrate. When desired, the Boc protecting group can be removed by acidic conditions under certain conditions.
